Minimalism is living a life of simplicity. I have seen the word negatively thrown around in regard to doing enough to get by or just a focus on self, which would be unfortunate if that was the only view of a minimalist. I look at minimalism as a self-check. How do I want to live my life? How do I make room for what matters? I do not want to live each day focusing on my own happiness, but what can I do for others?
It’s a matter of perspective. For each person, it will be different. For me, my top three priorities are God, my family and stewardship. When making decisions I ultimately circle back to the three listed to see if it aligns with what I value most and if it is going to help strengthen those areas. Decisions can be purchases, experiences, activities, obligations, etc. Minimalism is cutting out what does not matter to pursue a life with purpose.
